It reduces the production of the virus that causes genital herpes. This medication is prescribed to treat the symptoms of genital herpes, such as itching and burning pain during sexual contact. It works by stopping the growth of the virus.
It does this by inhibiting the replication of the virus. Once replication is inhibited, the skin cells of the genital area can remain healthy. This means that the genital herpes is completely gone.
Zovirax Duo is also used to treat other types of herpes infections that can cause genital herpes.
It can also be used to prevent outbreaks of genital herpes, such as the one that causes cold sores (causes chickenpox).
